Community Police Events: Youth Car Show Debuts in Hilo and Coffee with a Cop Sessions in West Hawaiʻi
M-Radar News, Hilo – The Hawaiʻi Police Department is set to host the first annual Youth Car Show at the Hilo Drag Strip on Saturday, August 15, inviting young automotive enthusiasts aged 17 and under to showcase their vehicles in a free, family-friendly event. Alongside this, five Coffee with a Cop gatherings are scheduled in West Hawaiʻi throughout August, aiming to strengthen community relationships.
The Youth Car Show offers a unique platform for keiki to display their passion and creativity in automobiles, whether it’s a restoration project, a first vehicle, or a prized possession. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes awards in four categories: imports, classics, trucks, and others. This initiative, organized by the Hawaiʻi Police Department’s Hilo Community Policing Section in partnership with the Hawaiʻi Police Activities League and D.A.R.E. Hawaiʻi, encourages community members to support young car enthusiasts while fostering positive interactions between families and law enforcement.

The Coffee with a Cop events in West Hawaiʻi provide additional opportunities for residents to meet district police officers in an informal setting, promoting trust and open dialogue within the community.
